ANIMAL SPIRIT CARD READINGS
Every animal in Nature carries a unique energy and medicine, and by paying attention to that medicine we can heal and teach ourselves. The Medicine Cards deck is a set of divination cards created by Jamie Sams and David Carson, that utilizes the power of the animals. Each card carries an image of an animal, illustrated by Angela C. Werneke, and by seeing which animals show up in a spread of cards, and where they appear, brings different messages to the seeker.
I have always been drawn to and connected with the animal kingdom, so it feels natural to me that I would turn to them for answers. And as a shamanic practitioner, the cards are a leaping off point as I connect with the Spirit of each species to read the story they tell by how they relate in a given spread and what specific message they have for each unique client.
As an example of animal medicine with the cards pictured above:
Otter -- Otter carries the Divine Feminine, and is the epitome of the saying "Be like water." She is sensuality, and going with the flow, and remembering that life is meant to be fun and filled with play.
Badger -- Badger is aggressiveness -- not so much in a predatory manner but rather in the tenacity to get things done without being sidetracked or diverted by distractions. Badger is also the keeper of Herbal Lore and Earth Medicine.
Opossum -- Opossum, being the actor of the animal kingdom, usually tells of some sort of drama taking place. Her message is usually about stepping back and remembering that "life is a stage" and about not getting caught up in the acting.
